# Name Utilities

Core exports the name and record codecs used by its actions. Each codec has a direct form and an
Effect form when validation can fail.

## Normalization

```ts
import { normalizeLabel, normalizeName } from "@ensforge/core";

const name = normalizeName("ENS.eth");
const effect = normalizeName.effect("ENS.eth");
```

`normalizeName` applies ENSIP-15 normalization. `normalizeLabel` handles one label. Invalid input
throws in the direct form and fails with `NameError` in the Effect form.

## Analysis

```ts
import { analyzeName } from "@ensforge/core";

const analysis = analyzeName("sub.example.eth");
```

`NameAnalysis` contains normalized labels, label count, parent, TLD, name kind, `.eth` membership,
and second-level `.eth` information used by registration and migration actions.

## Hashing

```ts
import { labelhash, namehash } from "@ensforge/core";

const node = namehash("ens.eth");
const label = labelhash("ens");
```

## DNS wire format

```ts
import { dnsDecodeName, dnsEncodeName } from "@ensforge/core";

const encoded = dnsEncodeName("ens.eth");
const decoded = dnsDecodeName(encoded);
```

## Address records

```ts
import { decodeAddressRecord, encodeAddressRecord } from "@ensforge/core";

const raw = encodeAddressRecord({ coinType: 60n, address });
const decoded = decodeAddressRecord({ coinType: 60n, value: raw });
```

Coin types can be converted with `toCoinType` and `fromCoinType`.
